Dave Schroeder grew up in Brazil where his parents served as church planters amongst a remote, indigenous group. He met his wife, Missy, at a Bible School in Wisconsin. Together, along with their three kids, they pursued fulltime missions as church planters in Papua New Guinea amongst the YembiYembi people. After only 2.5 years in PNG, God directed them back to New Tribes Bible Institute in Wisconsin. Dave thrived in serving there as the Dean of Men for nearly 9 years.
It was throughout those 9 years as Dean of Men that he witnessed firsthand the crisis in today’s society for young men. The crisis is passivity and a lack in godly young men who fearlessly desire to lead their families and follow Christ, no matter the cost. This is what led Dave & Missy to start Mentoring Timothy. Their desire is not to come up with the most elaborate plan or the best methodology to address this crisis. Rather, their focus is to walk closely with Jesus so that He is evident as they mentor and disciple. Life on life discipleship is the focus. Their hope is to see a generation so impacted by godly men that in the future there would no longer be a need for ministries like Mentoring Timothy.
Dave enjoys hunting & camping, long hikes, and driving anything that goes fast. Working hard with his hands in such simple tasks as splitting wood or putting up fence brings calmness to his heart and soul. Dave & Missy feel privileged and passionate to play a part in what God is doing through Mentoring Timothy. Their daily prayer is to stay dependent on Him alone!
“If we could change the hearts and perspectives of the young men of this world, the world could be changed.”
